Arms of Family Kovačević

Upon the expressed will of Mr Jovan Kovačević, his coat of arms was established on November 2025. These armorial bearings were rendered by the hand of Mr Nebojša Dikić, Heraldic Artist of The Board for Heraldic and Genealogical Studies of The Center for Research of Orthodox Monarchism and by the reasoning of The Reverend Father Deacon Hadži Nenad M. Jovanović, Heraldist of The Board for Heraldic and Genealogical Studies of The Center for Research of Orthodox Monarchism, who blazoned these armorial bearings in accordance with the best heraldic tradition of this region.

The blazon of the armorial bearings of Mr Jovan Kovačević are:

Shield – Gules, Greek Cross throughout Or between: 1 – southwestern facade of The Church of Saint Nicholas in Srđevići Argent, 2 – heart Or charged with a Russian Cross of the field, 3 – yatagan Argent hilted Or and pistol Or both points down in saltire and 4 – ducal coronet Or embellished of precious stones and pearls Proper 

Crest – Upon a helm, wreathed and mantled Gules doubled with lynx (Lynx lynx) fur Proper, a rocky mount and in its base three stalks of immortelle (Helichrysum arenarium) and issuant from its sinister flank a dexter arm grasping a spear all Proper flying a standard of Kosača.

During the rendering process, armiger was actively involved. We would emphases the most important charges of the coat of arms.

Golden heart charged with a red Russian cross symbolizing Saint Ignatius the God-bearer, the Patron Saint of the Kovačević brotherhood, as well as of all brotherhoods belonging to the tribe of the Maleševci, which member is armiger himself.

Yataghan and pistol symbolizing the glorious ancestors of Mr J. Kovačević.

Ducal crown is a symbol of the Duke Maleš of the XIV century, the progenitor of the Maleševci tribe.

Mantling is lined with natural lynx fur symbolizing the Duke Stojan Kovačević, who is referred by the family legend as the Lynx of Gacko.

A rock is symbol of the Herzegovinian karst, at whose base grow three sprigs of immortelle, symbolizing immortality, both charges are referring to the geographic origin of the armiger.

A hand grasping a spear is a symbol of military tradition of the amriger’s family.
